Extended Systems Licenses Bluetooth Technology to Visteon Companies Provide Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity Solutions for the Automotive Industry
LAS VEGAS - (Jan. 4, 2001) - Extended Systems (Nasdaq: XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, and Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC), a full-service provider of consumer-driven technology solutions for automotive manufacturers, announced today that the companies have aligned to bring Bluetooth technology to the automotive industry. By licensing Extended Systems' XTNDAccess Blue SDK, multi-purpose software development kit for Bluetooth implementation in mobile devices, Visteon will be able to provide people travelling in automobiles with wireless, hands-free interaction with devices such as pagers, cell phones, and PDAs.

Bluetooth wireless technology is a specification for a small-form factor, low-cost radio solution providing links between PCs, mobile phones, and other mobile devices. The Bluetooth SIG, comprised of leaders in the telecommunications, computing, and network industries, is driving development of the technology and bringing it to market. Extended Systems was invited by SIG founder, Intel to participate in Bluetooth working groups to help develop the original specifications for synchronization, object
exchange and file transfer profiles. Extended Systems is an associate member of the Bluetooth SIG. Visteon is a key member of the Bluetooth Automotive Expert Group (AEG), holding leadership responsibilities in three of the eight functional teams comprising the AEG.
