XcelleNet, Fujitsu Form Joint Sales Relationship to Provide Pen Tablet PCs With Management Solution
- XcelleNet's Afaria to contribute to the Fujitsu Stylistic® and PenCentra Pen Tablet PCs Customer Evaluations
ATLANTA - (Sept. 17, 2002) - XcelleNet, Inc., a leading provider of Mobile Infrastructure solutions and expertise, today announced a strategic joint-sales relationship with Fujitsu PC Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited.
As part of the relationship Fujitsu will pre-install XcelleNet's mobile management solution, Afaria, on all Fujitsu Stylistic® and PenCentra pen tablet PCs used during sales evaluations. By installing XcelleNet's Afaria on Fujitsu evaluation units, Fortune 500 customers can see for themselves the many advantages this mobile management solution has when implemented on a mobile platform. Fujitsu also plans to incorporate the Afaria solution for its entire pen tablet PC sales team.
The Afaria demonstration software and product information will help prospective Fujitsu customers decide on the best possible management solution for them to bring business critical information closer to their clientele and exercise total control over their ultra-mobile devices, applications and data in the field, allowing them to reduce support costs and improve productivity.
XcelleNet's Afaria enables enterprises to extend essential systems management capabilities out to a comprehensive array of mobile devices including pen tablets, notebooks, handhelds, smart phones and interactive pagers. Afaria overcomes the challenges of the mobile environment and makes end users more productive with tools for deploying and maintaining software applications and business documents, synchronizing content and data, tracking hardware and software device assets, backing up critical content and data, and maintaining desired configuration settings.
In addition to the data management capabilities of Afaria, Fujitsu prospects can include device management as part of their product evaluation - a critical piece of mobile device deployments. Existing Fujitsu customers can also obtain Afaria software and product information through the Fujitsu direct sales force and channel partners.
"Fujitsu is a major provider of ultra-mobile computing devices to businesses and we are pleased to be able to work closely with them to supply their customers with management solutions, " said Joan Herbig, CEO of XcelleNet. "This combination provides businesses with powerful, enterprise focused solutions that increase corporate productivity and competitiveness."
"The Fujitsu focus is to offer the industry's most complete range of mobile solutions to help enterprises effortlessly access, create, analyze and share information anytime, anywhere," said Dennis Mull, senior vice president of sales, Fujitsu PC Corporation. "We believe that XcelleNet's Afaria is an innovative solution designed to further enhance the functionality of mobile computing technologies. The ability to provide users with an effective and immediate method to manage and update critical data in the field is essential in maintaining a high level of productivity."

MobileInfo Comments & Advisory: Pre-installation
of device management is a smart strategy for XcelleNet to pursue. It
is a good time to evaluate the efficacy of the Afaria software. Once
hooked, the customer is quite likely to license it. Fujitsu
relationship should help XcelleNet.
