• Microsoft's Mobile Information Server (called Airstream while it was under development) - It was announced in late 2000 and beta version was introduced in early 2001. Production Version 1.0 (supporting WAP phone only) is slated for release in May 200. We believe that MIS will evolve in functionality as newer versions get released. Microsoft calls it mobile middleware and considers it as strategic product. we tend to agree that Microsoft will enhance MIS and integrate it with their other server products. Customers should consider both what is in the current version but also what its overall architecture is and where Microsoft may take MIS.  
• NowSpeed - Mobile Email Portal and Email-by-Voice Offering in both ASP model and behind the firewall for Enterprise implementations. 
• Research in Motion's (RIM's) Blackberry e-mail Server for Microsoft Exchange  - Useful if your main device for e-mail is Blackberry.
• RIM's e-mail server for Lotus Domino (Notes) - announced in late 2000, implemented in mid-2001.
• Simplewire's Instant Messaging (SMS) Software Development Kit, Messaging Server and Messaging Transport Software for AOL IM, Yahoo Chat, MSN Messenger and Jabber, 
• TeleDNA - Multimedia messaging platform, IP-based SMS center that integrates public WLAN hotspots into carrier's core network
• Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle and Anystyle Server - primarily for Microsoft Exchange In early 2001, it was more open and supported more devices than Microsoft's Mobile Information server. Anystyle works in both offline and online mode. It supports both Microsoft and IBM Lotus Domino Notes e-mail environment. In the case of Lotus Notes, Workstyle server provides access to standard Notes client, Notes-encrypted e-mail, Notes digital certificates for security, Domino password-management and security authentication.
