TURNKEY APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE
Qualifications of a turn-key solutions provider
A systems integrator that has native software development and
systems integration capabilities is NOT a turn-key solution provider. If you want to build
a custom solution and do not want to take advantage of standard solutions available in the
market, you should follow the route of a general-purpose systems integrator.
On the
other hand, a turn-key solutions provider meets a majority of the following attributes:
- Knows intimately various business processes and automation
requirements of the specific vertical industry
- Has investigated needs and done business analysis for several
customers in the industry
- Has developed software modules (that can be customized to meet
unique requirements of a customer) to handle various business functions.
- Has developed end-user interface for one or more than one
end-user mobile device
- Has developed user training for the specific industry and can
provide user training
- Has fully implemented the complete solution several times.
Remember the rule of 7 - it takes seven attempts to learn something and be called an
expert.
- Has business partners that provide network and other
components that are not its core competency and product line. The vendor solution should
have previously been tested for compatibility of these interfaces.
- Should have a competency center (a center of excellence) for the specific
application with a dedicated staff trained in mobile and wireless
applications
