PLC Partners with WIDCOMM Inc. to Produce Bluetooth Connectivity Products
Dacom PLC, the mobile networking division of
Psion PLC, has partnered with WIDCOMM Inc., a provider of short-range
wireless communications and Bluetooth
networking. Under the agreement, Psion Dacom's will use WIDCOMM's Bluetooth
software protocol stacks and Bluetooth reference designs based on the latest
1.0 Bluetooth specification for wireless data transmission. Psion Dacom will
license both WIDCOMM's design for a PC card and Bluetooth-enable laptop
computers as well as for an adapter to Bluetooth-enable PCs via USB.
Dacom will manufacture the products for integration by leading worldwide PC
OEMs. The Bluetooth PC cards and Bluetooth USB adapters will likely be
available in the third quarter of this year.
